Bijou French Restaurant in Lebanon

The Bijou Restaurant is a French restaurant in Lebanon, Central Indiana, on the Northwest side of Indianapolis. This is a great place to unwind outside the bustle of the metropolis, and savor the mouth-watering French continental cuisine they serve for dinner on Tuesdays through Saturdays. Chef-owner Candace Winter chose to open her establishment in a historical building from the year 1890. Deep red brick on the top story and dark green-framed windows on the ground floor, with white accents, the building beckon the outside viewer to come through the yellow door and see what’s what.

The Bijou Restaurant is less than a half hour from downtown Indianapolis, and this particular dining establishment can give the great Indianapolis restaurants in the middle of Circle City a run for their money. Hoosiers from the inner city make the drive to the Bijou, not only for the exquisite French fare, but for the reasonable prices and excellent service. Folks from other nearby cities in Indiana also frequent the Bijou. It is only a half-hour from Lafayette and twenty minutes from Carmel, for example.

The elegant French restaurant occupies a nice location, right on the square in downtown Lebanon, on the south side of the historic Boone county courthouse. Lebanon is a mid-sized satellite of Indy with about 50,000 residents. How nice to come upon a really good, reasonable French restaurant, with excellent service, smack in the middle of the good old Midwest.

Appetizers at the Bijou Restaurant include items such as Mussels Mariniere, Lobster Feuillete in a puff pastry, French Onion Soup and the house Oysters Bijou.

Entrees at the Bijou Restaurant include a sumptuous Bistro Salmon with Julienne Vegetables, their Shrimp and Crab Normandie with baked jumbo shrimp and melt-in-your-mouth seasoned crab in chipotle sauce, the house eight-ounce Filet Mignon with Sauce Bernaise (you can add a lobster tail), Duck Breast in a magnificent Grand Marnier demiglaze, Lamb Chops in a demiglaze of pinot noir and PorkTenderloin Medallions in a creamy dijon sauce with a shallot-cherry confit. The Bijou serves fresh, authentic French bread with every entree too.

The bar section of the Bijou Restaurant is separated and even sports its own name, the Bistro. Dinner here is more casual and more economic, and you can expect to pay about half what you would in the main dining room. You will still get a scrumptious meal in the inimitable French tradition.
